Members ~ Introducing Nick!

Q. Firstly, introduce yourself - name, nickname, where you were born, how old you are, where you live, what your job is or what you study.

A. Nick Hook aka ChaosCowboy. Aged 43, born in London. Studied fine art and am an exhibiting artist, but have a day job with the Civil Service. Have been ‘alternative’ one way or another all my life. The Vampyre scene has people who are on my wave length, I feel appreciated and understood.

Q. What do you do in your spare time? What are you passionate about?

A. I am an artist dealing with imaginative, dark subjects with a twisted sense of humour. I’m passionate about creativity and imagination, something which is lacking in our celebrity-obsessed, empty-headed society.

Q. What is your most treasured possession?

A. My statue of the Goddess, it’s made of rosewood, and I’ve had it for about 20 years.

Q. Which living person would you most like to meet?

A. H.R. Giger, who’s something of an inspiration to my art. I’ve already met Clive Barker.

Q. Name your top three bands

A. Rob Zombie, AC/DC and Iron Maiden

Q. Name your top three movies

1. Highlander (not the crap sequels)
2. The Empire Strikes Back
3. Countess Dracula

Q. What is the most important book you have read? (can be non-vampire)

A. Weaveworld by Clive Barker

Q. Which is your favourite horror/vampire book?

A. Necroscope: Wamphyri by Brian Lumley

Q. Do you think vampires are real? Explain.

A. No, they are an enjoyable fantasy. It’s the dullness of society that drains my energy.

Q. What were your reasons for joining the London Vampyre Group? What do you want to get out of being a member?

A. I wanted to find people who were like me. I have a social scene where I don’t have to compromise to be accepted.

Q. What is your favourite word?

A. Imagination

Q. What is your greatest fear?

A. Going blind

Q. What is the most important thing life has taught you?

A. That in a world of nasty, casual banality there are still people who dare to dream. That all the ugliness and stupid cruelty can’t destroy those dreams.

Q. Give a song lyric / quote from a film or person or a passage / sentence from book that you feel embodies your approach to life.

A. What’s the use of sitting alone in your room? Come hear the music play, life is a cabaret old chum, so come to the cabaret!

- Sally Bowles, Cabaret. Film by Bob Fosse

Q. Do you have a livejournal or personal webpage that we can link to?

A. LiveJournal Chaoscowboy
