Members ~ Introducing Alastair!

Q. Firstly, introduce yourself – name, nickname, where you were born, how old you are, where you live, what your job is or what you study. You don’t have to answer all of these....

A. Name = Alastair Malone –nicknames are Frank Spencer (when I used to wear a beret), Rupert The Bear (when I wear my bright red Fareham Town FC football scarf), Popeye (when I smoke my corn cob pipe); the Grim reaper(when I wear my goth gear), the last being the only one I answer to! I was born in Portsmouth and am aged 49. I graduated in History in 1988.

Q. What do you do in your spare time? What are you passionate about?

A. Lots of time with my guinea pig, Poppy. She has cost me a fortune in vet’s bills, but is worth every penny. She has been a poorly little GP recently, but is hopefully back to normal now. I’ve always got a book on the go.

Q. What is your most treasured possession?

A. My Doc martins. My old pair lasted 15 years and the sole split recently, so I bought a new pair which I hope will last as long.

Q. Which living person would you most like to meet?

A. Amy Lee (of Evanescence)

Q. Name your top three bands

A.

1. Evanescence
2. The Mission
3. Tom Verlaine

Q. Name your top three movies

A. 1. The Exorcist (first One)
2. Sherlock Holmes: House of Fear (Basil Rathbone = Holmes)
3. The Haunting (original version, very scary)

Q. What is the most important book you have read? (can be non-vampire)

A. Lizelle Reymond: To Live Within – 5 Years With A Himalayan Guru - this has kept me company for the last 27 years!

Q. Which is your favourite horror/vampire book?

A. The Exorcist or Legion, both by William Peter Blatty. The book ‘Legion’ is better than the film, as the film left out the main character.

Q. Do you think vampires are real? Explain.

A. I think some people think they are vampires and that historically they have instilled fear and loathing in “normal” people. All of the above is true, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are real (i.e. people who were witches were persecuted and burnt, but as the result of hysteria or mental illness)

Q. What were your reasons for joining the London Vampyre Group? What do you want to get out of being a member?

A. I love all things Gothic. I am usually in London a couple of times a yearand will try to arrange my visits to correspond with LVG events.

Q. What is your favourite word?

A. Poppy (as in Guinea Pig)

Q. What is your greatest fear?

A. I have suffered ill health and my greatest fear is that I will get unwell.

Q. What is the most important thing life has taught you?

A. SHIT HAPPENS! But I am still here.

Q. Give a song lyric / quote from a film or person or a passage / sentence from book that you feel embodies your approach to life.

A.

My wounds cry for the Grave
My Soul Cries for deliverance,
Will I be denied,
Christ Tourniquet, My Suicide
(Amy Lee, Evanescence: Tourniquet)

Q. Do you have a livejournal or personal webpage that we can link to?

A. No.
